And Adam Had Two Wives...

rather than allow her daughters
to struggle with pain
          submission
she spoke the secret
name
          Yahweh
and disappeared into the deserts
where she leads men
astray
with hot whispers
          of her

...And Adam Knew What He Had Lost

Adam silently longs
for Lillith
she who once was his
who forswore mankind
was strong enough
to defy even a God

She was the one
made equal with him
formed as he
from the beauty of the earth
into whom breath was blown
same in stature and glory

It was from Adam God made Eve
ensuring her eternal dependence
upon the man
just as the man
was forever indebted
to the God

Adam and his descendents
look to the deserts
when the winds shift direction
and the sighs of Lillith
disturb
and beckon
