drop by drop it grows
first as alpine marshes
water finding its way
to a thousand channels
ever seeking lower ground
quickly it swells to raging,
a thousand channels growing
to yet a thousand rivulets
all feeding to power
and swiftness
waters foam and swell
over stone and fallen trees
only a few miles it is
built to strength
that moves land and rock
great promises to the desert lake
that bears its name
